An Initiative of the City of Akron

Simplified Pre-Clinical, Clinical Trials and Reimbursement Code Access

New Conclusions Faster

The Akron BioMedical Corridor offers direct access to clinical trial programs. By reducing the time needed for developing protocol, obtaining IRB approval and conducting actual trials, you can reach new conclusions faster. Plus, SummaCare - part of Summa Health System - can assist you in early assessment of reimbursement options and codes. Akron's leading clinical trial centers include:

Summa Center for Clinical Trials (SCCT)

Summa Health System recently opened a 3,800-square-foot outpatient center for clinical trials at Akron City Hospital. The Summa Center for Clinical Trials (SCCT) operates on the principal that high quality, innovative clinical research improves clinical care and community health. The SCCT is committed to promoting research excellence and facilitating study implementation, to ensure successful and efficient completion of clinical trials throughout Summa Health System. By providing a wide range of clinical and administrative support services, investigators are able to expand their research activities, which will help advance scientific knowledge, the prevention of disease and improve healthcare for all patients.

Additionally, the SCCT serves as a clinical trial unit for the Austen BioInnovation Institute of Akron (ABIA). This will enhance ABIA's ability to translate promising pre-clinical discoveries of Akron based researchers from bench to clinical care and increase our ability to significantly improve community health and advance health care.

Akron General Medical Center

At Akron General Medical Center, an entire team of clinical research coordinators and investigators recruit and manage participants for clinical trials in areas.

Rebecca D. Considine Research Institute, Akron Children's Hospital
