AKRON, Ohio - September 5, 2014 - Akron Mayor Don Plusquellic announced today that a manufacturing company from Italy, Ravizza Packaging, will be opening its U.S. headquarters in Akron, Ohio, and will be selling their patented product, Simplicita Bag Smart, throughout the United States.  Ravizza Packaging, founded by Roberto Ravizza and his father, Franco Ravizza, in 1982, is a privately-held Italian bagging machinery company based in Turin, Italy.  Read More>

Akron and Netanya Team Up to Develop New Water Technology

New software solution will predict locations of water main breaks and bring in new revenue.

AKRON, Ohio - July 24, 2013 - The City of Akron and the Mei-Netanya Water Company (Israel) jointly announce their collaboration in the development of a new software solution that will help medium-sized communities solve common but costly utility issues.   The new software will consolidate all known data on waterlines (such as depth, material, age, number of breaks, soil conditions, leaks, number of and customers served) and then data analytics will predict the most likely locations for future water main breaks. AKRON, Ohio - March 27, 2013 -  The City's Akron Development Corporation, through its Akron BioInvestment Funds, LLC, has announced that a Kentucky biomedical company is relocating its headquarters to Akron, Ohio.  The Akron BioInvestment Funds has provided financing to Orthodata, Inc in support of its effort to commercialize a new spine fusion sensor -- an innovative diagnostic system that allows surgeons to accurately assess the success of spinal fusion and eliminate the need for unnecessary exploratory surgery while accelerating patients' return to work after surgery.
